Stango Cuisine is proudly recognized as the first and only authentic Zambian restaurant in the United States, located in Downtown Champaign, Illinois. Founded in 2017 by Chef Mubanga Chanda, and operated alongside her business partners Betty Phiri and Oliver Chibwe, Stango Cuisine has grown from a small mall booth into a cornerstone of Champaign’s international dining scene.

Every dish at Stango Cuisine is prepared from scratch, rooted in traditional Zambian cooking techniques and influenced by African flavors. Our mission is to share culture, community, and comfort through food—welcoming both longtime supporters and first‑time guests to experience the heart of Zambia.
